Baptismal Preparation

This required class prepare parents/guardians and godparents for understanding of their roles in the baptism and raising of their children in the Catholic faith as a disciple of Christ. Registered parishioners must request and make special arrangements with the parish for the class and baptism. Godparents must be chosen according to Catholic norms.

1st Sacraments of Reconciliation and Communion

This is preparation for the full initiation into the Body of Christ, the Church. The “family style” preparation includes the candidate, parents, and siblings. Parents must be parishioners. Candidates must be baptized, attending mass regularly, and be in their second year of catechesis. First Reconciliation takes place during Advent. First Communion usually takes place the last weekend of April.

Confirmation Preparation

This group provides catechetical, liturgical, social and service opportunities for the candidate, their sponsor, and their families. Every two years, a calendar of events is planned and implemented in preparation for the celebration that includes a dinner with the Bishop.

Candidates for Confirmation must be parishioners who have been baptized, celebrated first Reconciliation and first Communion. They must request Confirmation and participate fully in the preparation, including on-going catechesis at the parish level – youth group or parochial school. Currently youth Confirmation is celebrated in the 8th or 9th grade. Adult Confirmation is available by calling the Director of Religious Education or the parish office.

Wedding and Marriage Preparation

Couples wishing to celebrate the sacrament of Holy Matrimony at St. Anthony need to contact the church office to set an appointment and to schedule a wedding. A preparation plan with classes will be established according to each situation.

RCIA (The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)

This is the process of initiation and conversion into the Roman Catholic Church for adults and children of catechetical age. Sponsors journey with the Catechumen to provide instruction and discussion about Christian theology, teachings, and practices.

This group generally meets weekly from October through Easter when final enrollment occurs.
